AGING MANSION GETS A NEW LEASE ON LIFE

A large (and a little tired) traditional family home was in need of a complete transformation for a young family. All systems and services were replaced and renewed with an emphasis on respecting the original detail and character of the 100 year old house, and making it a context for contemporary furniture, art and living.

Much of the 9 month design and build effort is invisible in the finished product as it lies hidden in walls and ceilings. Visible are the open spaces, modern detailing, continuous flow of materials and spaces

which have rejuvenated the old house for contemporary and future use. Basis was involved in this transformation from purchase to final fittings and details.
